An American in Paris, a musical play based on the eponymous 1951 Academy Award winning film is showing at the Barbara B Mann Performing Arts Hall!

The musical features an impressive ensemble of artists who bring to life the captivating story of an American solider, a mysterious French girl, and an indomitable European city, each yearning for a new beginning in the aftermath of war. The original show was a Broadway production directed by international contemporary ballet choreographer and Tony Award winner, Christopher Wheeldon. It was written by New York Film Critics Circle Award winner Craig Lucas and has unforgettable works from legendary lyricist-composer duo of George and Ira Gershwin. The production premiered at the Palace Theatre on Broadway in April 2015 following an engagement at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris. It’s been nominated for and won numerous awards including 4 Drama Desk Awards, 1 Drama League Award, 4 Outer Critics Circle Awards, and 3 Fred and Adele Astaire Awards. It also won 4 Tony Awards for Best Choreography, Best Lighting Design of a Musical, Best Orchestrations, and Best Scenic Design of a Musical.
